Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our children’s residential service supporting young people with complex trauma, attachment needs, and behavioural difficulties in solo placements.

This role focuses on providing consistent overnight care, safety, and emotional support, helping young people feel calm, secure, and supported during the night.

About the Role

You will create a nurturing overnight environment, supporting emotional regulation and responding to needs using trauma-informed approaches including PACE and Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP).

Key Responsibilities

Maintain a calm and reassuring presence overnight
Support bedtime routines and emotional reassurance
Monitor wellbeing and respond to incidents appropriately
Complete welfare checks, safety checks, and night logs
Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures
Support emotional regulation using de-escalation approaches
Light household and laundry duties
Work closely with the wider care team

Requirements

Experience supporting children or young people with trauma or challenging behaviour
Understanding of safeguarding and residential care practice
Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient approach
Ability to work waking night shifts (including weekends & bank holidays)
Commitment to professional boundaries and high standards of care
